A May 20th fieldtrip marked the celebration of a warm Spring day BBQ at North Glenmore Park. Seventy students across three different schools from the Refugee program had the chance to engage and participate in a wide range of activities including: face painting, egg races, three-legged races, and the program favorite; soccer. Sunshine and laughter filled the air, as students and facilitators competed through the different activities tracking best times, participation and teamwork efforts. An organized and structured program guided by our program facilitators made it possible for our students to engage in different teams in an encouraging and meaningful way. A delicious BBQ was enjoyed for lunch, and students had the opportunity to mingle across the different teams and school groups, and that was followed by some cake and singing for our Birthday twins (Bilal and Ibtissam). The day was wrapped up with the rotation through more activities and a concluded with the Stuffy Bear Distribution Grand Finale. Smiles, happiness, and love were shared by all. Students left home, mostly full and tired from an action packed day, along with the anticipation which they later expressed, “when will we go again?”
