Building Stronger Workplaces and Communities: Cristina Balamban Receives HR Excellence Award

Congratulations to Cristina Balamban who received the Individual HR Excellence Award from the Chartered Professionals of Human Resources. Cristina, our Director of People & Culture, was awarded for her dedication, continuous learning, and advocacy for HR. 

Cristina was honored at the CPHR 2026 Member Recognition Gala earlier this month. CPHR, a provincial organization, wrote that award recipients including Cristina are “a champion of innovation, embracing emerging trends, technologies, and creative approaches that advance organizational success.” 

“For me, this recognition represents purpose,” Cristina said. “It affirms my belief that when we invest in people—when we listen, support, and create spaces where individuals can thrive, we build stronger organizations and stronger communities.” 

Cristina’s work does not happen in isolation, she said. Because of this, she shares her recognition with colleagues who passionately collaborate, and teams that are committed to making a positive difference, she added.  

“In HR, we often work behind the scenes, but the impact is deeply human,” Cristina said. “To be recognized in this field reinforces my commitment to continue advocating for workplaces that are inclusive, compassionate, and empowering.”
