Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS)
Personalized in-school settlement programs
Adapting to school in Canada can come with challenges – that’s why we offer a free, in-school settlement program for children born outside of Canada. We’ll work with students and their families to build customized plans to help families reach their short- and long-term goals.
Our practitioners connect families to different services and activities while helping students improve their academic skills. They’ll also work with parents to help them understand the Canadian education system and the expectations schools have.
We assist in multiple languages with interpreters available upon request.
SWIS Workshop Topics:
- Getting ready for school
- Driving in Alberta
- Parenting across cultures
