On February 22, 2025, the Calgary Bridge Foundation for Youth proudly hosted its annual “Power of Voice” conference at the Patricia A. Whelan Performance Hall in the Calgary Central Library. This year’s theme, “Power in Authenticity: Dare to be You!”, resonated deeply with over 250 newcomer youth from grades 7 to 12, encouraging them to embrace their unique identities and voices.

Event Highlights:

  • Inspiring Speakers: The conference featured a diverse lineup of guest speakers, including Kimani Crawford, Adrian Wolfleg, Noel Bahliby, Mayor Jyoti Gondek, Councillor Terry Wong, Jill Drader, and a panel of remarkable youth. Each shared personal stories and insights, motivating attendees to harness the power of authenticity in their personal and community endeavors.

  • Youth Performances: Talented youth participants showcased their skills through various performances, adding vibrancy and energy to the event.

  • Information Booths: Fifteen information booths were set up, providing resources and opportunities for youth to engage with community organizations and services.

In the lead-up to the event, CTV News Calgary featured the conference, highlighting its significance in empowering young newcomers. The segment included an interview with 16-year-old Shreeya Vadlamannadi, who moved to Calgary from India in November 2024. Her artwork was selected as the official poster for the 2025 “Power of Voice” conference, symbolizing the event’s spirit and theme.

The “Power of Voice” conference continues to be a cornerstone event for CBFY, reinforcing our commitment to supporting and empowering newcomer youth in Calgary. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all speakers, performers, volunteers, and attendees who contributed to the success of this inspiring day.
