APPLICATION DEADLINE: July 1, 2025
WHO CAN APPLY?
✦ Grade 12 and upgrading students
✦ Must be a client, participant or volunteer in one or more CBFY programs
✦ Not a previous winner of a CBFY scholarship
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUBMIT:
✦ A short biography (maximum 500 words)
✦ A project in the format that best expresses your ideas. You may choose from the following formats:
- Essay (maximum 1200 words)
- Art piece, video, poem, song, or any other creative medium
Please Note: If you choose a creative format (other than an essay), include a short written rationale explaining your piece (maximum 500 words). Art submissions must be submitted as a clear photo of the physical work. We can only accept individual, original work. Group projects or pieces created for other assignments or purposes will not be considered.
✦ Two written references
(from a teacher, faith-based leader, coach, youth worker, work supervisor, etc. – please do not use a family member as a reference)
✦ Your most recent academic transcript
(only to confirm that you are in grade 12 or upgrading; your grades will not impact your application).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
✦ Application deadline: Tuesday, July 1 at 11:59 PM (Calgary Time)
✦ Multiple scholarships are available, valued at $3500 each (in celebration of our 35th year of serving newcomer youth!)
✦ Award funds will be provided directly to the successful recipients
✦ Award winners will be invited to attend CBFY’s Youth Achievement Awards Gala on November 7th, 2025 and may be invited to attend other CBFY events throughout the year.
