Aishwarya “Ash” is a Youth Worker who is passionate about creating spaces where young people feel welcomed, supported, and comfortable. She holds a BA in Behavioural Science and enjoys building meaningful relationships with youth through her work. Ash’s journey with CBFY began in 2021 as a practicum student. In 2024, she returned as a Facilitator, and became a Youth Worker in 2025. Having immigrating to Canada herself, Ash understands the importance of finding belonging and building connections in a new community. Originally from the beautiful island of Mauritius, Ash brings her love of culture, creativity, and connection into her work. She enjoys planning interactive activities, learning about cultures, and seeing young people discover their strengths. Ash speaks English and Mauritian Creole and is always excited to share her Mauritian background with others. Ash is happy to call Calgary home and is grateful for the opportunities she has had to grow alongside the youth she works with.

Originally from Vancouver Island, Stephanie arrived in Calgary eager to assist in the settlement of newcomer families. Holding a bachelor’s degree with a double major in Political Science and Sociology, she is informed by her education and varied experience working with youth. Ultimately though, it is the stories that drive her passion. Working with youth and their families at CBFY allows Stephanie to interact with newcomers everyday, listening to and learning from diverse lived experiences. In everything Stephanie does, she tries to put herself in other peoples’ shoes. Empathy for the immigrant experience and an understanding that where we are born and who we are born to impacts so much of what we are exposed to, and therefore our perspective. If there is one thing that she's learned, it is that it only takes one person, one moment to change your life forever, to change your perspective. It just takes one person to have an impact. In everything that you do, strive to be that person.

Tijana's journey with CBFY began in 2016 when she enrolled in the Mentorship program as a newcomer from Serbia. The program facilitated her transition to Canadian life and provided essential information. After obtaining a Psychology degree from the University of Calgary, Tijana returned to CBFY to contribute to the community. She volunteered for several years, became an ASP facilitator in 2021, and quickly moved to a senior facilitator role. Currently, she serves as an ASP Coordinator with Bridge Club, focusing on social-emotional learning, generosity, and cultural diversity for the youngest clients. Tijana finds excitement in collaborating with a fantastic team and enjoying program activities with students. She is passionate about expanding newcomers' knowledge of available services, sharing personal experiences, and offering insights on helping children acclimate and thrive in a new environment.
