Bridges to Community Project Coordinator & Team Lead
As a retired School Principal with 36 years of experience, I am thrilled to have been seconded to CBFY to contribute to the development of English Language Learning after-school programs for Ukrainian Youth. This initiative targets school-age children (K-12) in both Calgary school districts. While the primary focus is on conversational English skills, the program also aims to enrich students' understanding of their new home, Canada. Beyond language acquisition, we address social/emotional issues, providing support and intervention for those dealing with anxiety and trauma. Additionally, we offer interpretive services to overcome language barriers for schools, parents, and other agencies in need. Our holistic approach ensures a comprehensive and supportive learning environment for Ukrainian youth settling into their new Canadian home.
