This is an interesting question, I joined Mentorship in 2017 as a peer mentor and was really impressed with the work of my youth workers. They supported and helped me thrive not only in high school but also in University. It can be really hard navigating postsecondary as newcomer but they supported me and helped me get my scholarship. I graduated with a double major in Political Science and International Relations, I think this educational experience helped me understand the immigration journey of people other than myself. I really enjoy coming to work because my team makes the work environment do open, welcoming, and happy. Furthermore, I get to work with youth and offer support to many that suffer from language barriers. Many of the youth will be the first in their families to go to university/college and they lack a lot of information. Being able to be a safe, trusted source of information and knowledge is very important to me.
